InDesign Exercise 2

Invitation card exercise

This exercise is more intricate than the first one.

1. Replicate

Make this recto verso invitation card โ€” a two-page document in InDesign. (A Plus Ltd. is a fictitious company.)

The logo, texts, image, a PDF rendering of the above, and a help page โ€” are inย qoolcat.fr/down/indesign-ex2.zip.

In the download file, the “Help-Handout.pdf” document contains useful tips.

  • Dimensions: 153mm x 153mm plus bleed of 3mm (the above images show the invitation without the bleed).
  • Colour red is C M Y K 0% 100% 99% 4% โ€” you should create a colour swatch for this.
  • Font is Lato: Light, Regular and Semi Bold.
  • Main text is Lato Regular size 8pt with interlinage 11.5pt.
  • The asterisk is from the font Wingdings 2, character โ€œร โ€.
  • All dimensions you can estimate, but the result should be almost identical to what you see here.

On the first page, to make the white between the logo and the โ€œQโ€ in โ€œQuarterlyโ€, you can have a white rectangle placed in front of the โ€œQโ€ but behind the A+ logo. You do this the other way around on the second page.

2. Own design

Make this invitation card with your own design but with the same format and information (same card size, same text, same logo, but completely different design). Your own design should be as page 3 of the same InDesign document.

3. PDF

Export for print as PDF/X-1a:2001, with crop and crop and bleed marks.

4. Upload

If it is required that you hand in (upload) your work, includeย bothย the InDesign file and the PDF document in a single directory (folder) named SURNAME_FIRSTNAME and then compress (zip) the file to create SURNAME_FIRSTNAME.zip, which is the file that you upload.
